Which is better? A lot of clients ask me this question when it comes to the part of putting on falsies, but there’s no correct answer to this. One is not better than the other, because it’s all about preference when it comes to the look you’re going for. It all depends on the eye makeup and the overall effect that you want out of your look, but also how much time you’re willing to put into it when topping off your makeup.
Strip Lashes
Strip lashes are great for multiple reasons. They’re quicker to put on than individual clusters, which means you’re spending less time getting ready. They are reusable for the most part, especially if you’re cleaning them properly(and GENTLY!). If you like the more dramatic looks or do darker eye makeup, I generally tend to recommend strip lashes since they will stand out more than individuals, which can get “lost” if you’re doing a super smokey eye look. Strip lashes are also great for drama, since you can notice them even from farther away than you would be able to see individual lashes. I also love using them in the evening for this reason, especially when going out dancing and I want my lashes to show in darker environments.
A strip lash is also ideal for those with very sparse lashes, since individuals can be harder to place on lashlines like that. Another great thing about strip lashes is that they come in many different styles, from wispy to intense, which means you can customize the look that you’re going for, unlike individuals which are pretty standard in that they come in clusters.
Individual Lashes
I love individual lashes lately, and I’ll tell you why. They look more natural when applied properly, and you don’t see a thick band when looking down since they are virtually invisible at the lash line. They’re great for a natural look but still give you that OOMPH you want! While they are more time consuming to apply, the effect is absolutely worth it! Plus you can customize them if you want a more natural look, or build them up how you see fit to give you more drama. If you’re applying a more natural or lighter eye makeup look, individuals are definitely the way to go. I always love to use these on my brides as well as for headshots, since they give you a fuller lash look without looking like falsies.
Individual lashes are also great because you don’t have to worry about the ends coming off your lids throughout the day, and don’t have to worry about watery eyes messing everything up. They happen to come in a variety of sizes, from small to long, which make them easy for pretty much anyone to use. They’re also much lighter on the eye area, so they feel weightless and still give you the fluff you want.
Individuals are an absolute must for hooded or mature eyes, since you don’t have to worry about sizes or having to cut down half the damn lash line just to get it to fit properly! They’re easy to use, and even easier to remove, so you don’t have to worry about ripping away half of your actual lashes when removing them...which I may or may not be saying from experience haha!
