2021 Fashion Color Palette

With summer just around the corner, it’s about time to do some spring cleaning...and some spring shopping! While it seems like many brands are coming out with a new palette every month, it’s hard to know where to start, right? Being a working makeup artist helps, since during the span of our careers, we are constantly on the hunt in testing out new products. Another great benefit is that, unlike the consumer, we get to try our makeup on many different skin tones, types, and textures, as well as genders and ages. As a result, this article will be a little different than most, as I’ll be breaking down the palettes recommended to try based on skin types and tones(keep in mind, these are just recommendations...at the end of the day, you can make any of these palettes work for your skin tone and type if you really like the colors). Let’s dive right in, shall we?

  • Palette: Aperol Spritz Eyeshadow Palette
  • Brand: Viseart Paris
  • Skin Type: Universal
  • Skin Tone: Universal

“Fashions fade, style is eternal”, said legendary designer Yves Saint Laurent. I think the same applies to this brand. There are plenty of eyeshadow brands you can try that may serve for a time, but Viseart is one you won’t ever let go of. As artists, we are always on the hunt for shadows that are perfect, and if Viseart isn’t damn near PERFECT, then I don’t know what is! Handpressed, paraben free, formaldehyde free, sulfate free, premiere pigments without the fillers commonly found in other eyeshadows, this 12 pan palette comes in both matte and shimmer colors. These gorgeous, creamy, superbly powerful shadows are formulated to be longwear, meant for even the most sensitive eyes, and ideal for all skin types. Because of the superior, pigment-packed, and highly blendable formula, it is recommended to use softer brushes when using Aperol Spritz. Having colors like Prosecco(warm shimmer), Scala(bronzed caramel), and, of course, Spritz(sunkissed candied apricot), this palette is sure to be just what you ordered to go with your mango mimosa at brunch!

  • Palette: Sunrise Eyeshadow Palette
  • Brand: Natasha Denona
  • Skin Type: Dry
  • Skin Tone: Medium to Deep

This palette is just so fun! With colors inspired by, you guessed it, the sunrise, these formulas are creamy enough for dry lids(though I would never recommend skipping a good hydrating eye primer...after all, hydration is key to any makeup look)! These eyeshadows come in 15 shades, and have a variety of matte, metallic, and duo-chrome finishes, giving you a little bit of everything! With pops of color like Citrine(warm yellow matte) and Awakening(lavender duo-chrome), and more muted colors like Morning(light apricot) and Day Spring(nude bronze), this palette has a wide range of options to use for both day and night, or even day INTO night! Another added bonus to this palette is that it’s slightly smaller than some of the other ones from the brand, as well as slimmer, making it easy to slip into your purse and take with you on the go!

  • Palette: Rose Gold Palette
  • Brand: Nudestix
  • Skin Type: Oily
  • Skin Tone: Light to Medium

A limited-edition 6 piece set with full sized magnetic eye colors, these pencils provide powerful color, are great for precise lining, priming, highlighting, or for just wearing all over the eye by itself. Free of parabens and sulfates, the pencils are also cruelty and gluten free, making them an ideal option for even the most sensitive of eyes. They come in luminous and matte finishes, and are crease-proof and longwear, so you don’t have to worry about your eyeshadow sliding off your oily lids and ending up...well...everywhere! My favorite colors to use in this set are Pink Seychelles(rose gold) paired with Maroon’d(reddish brown) and a little bit of Praia(gold shimmer) on the inner corners of the eye. These crayon-like pencils are so easy to use, when I’m in a rush, I’ll even use some of them as blush or to highlight. Another great thing about these is that you can toss one or two(or all of them!) in your bag or pocket and don’t have to worry about broken eyeshadow all over the place!
