How a Cleaning Balm is a Vital Part of Your Beauty Routine

A common mistake in the beauty world is grabbing products that have rave reviews but not knowing how to utilize them in all the ways you can. This happened to me with a product that I love: Japanese Cleansing Oil by Sonia Roselli Beauty. This gentle yet effective oil cleanser takes off all of the makeup and grime from the day in less than a minute, and I have been using it for years as part of my beauty routine. It’s a great product for all skin types and ages because it helps your skin maintain its delicate skin barrier, and it doesn’t leave any residue behind. With ingredients like Olive Oil, Vitamin E, Cherry Blossom and Organic Rice, this cleanser is also free of any chemical fragrances and chemical color additives, making it super gentle on the skin. It should also be noted that it’s cruelty free, vegan, paraben free, as well as gluten free, making it an ethical product to have in your routine!

Did you know that there’s more than one way to use not only this oil cleanser, but many oil cleansers? I didn’t! Basically, you want to massage this cleanser onto the skin for 10 minutes! That’s right, 10 full minutes. It may not seem like a long time, but when you’re doing it, time seems to stand still for some reason...still, you want to make sure you’re doing it for the full timeframe.

Why do I recommend doing this? Well, this causes the oil to “pull” out any grime, blackheads, whiteheads, and any other stuff that’s clogging up your pores. After a few minutes, you’ll notice little bits and pieces of stuff start to come off your skin, and you’d be surprised how much you’ll start to feel come out by the end of it! I exfoliate my skin regularly with both physical and chemical exfoliants, so I didn’t expect much from this technique. Boy, was I wrong!

After about 3 minutes, I started to notice little hard bits and pieces of stuff coming off my skin, and at the 10 minute mark, I took a tissue to swipe one side of my cheek...just out of curiosity. I wanted to see how much actually came off my skin instead of getting straight to washing it all off, and I noticed a bunch of little white heads, a few blackheads, and even some patches of what looked like dead skin. So cool, right? I also noticed, after using the cleanser this way, that I had a lot less bumps on my skin and that it also felt and looked both softer and smoother.

So the next time you grab this cleanser at the end of the night to wash away the day, try extending the 60 seconds to 10 minutes...you’ll be surprised at the results!
